Rabondo Village

A Village of Hope and Opportunity

Nestled in the heart of Southwest Kenya, between the Maasai Mara National Reserve and Lake Victoria, Rabondo Village in Migori County is a community with a story of resilience, growth, and promise. In 1998, when the Rabondo Community Project USA (RCPUSA) was founded, the village and surrounding areas had a population of roughly 5,000 people, struggling with limited access to education, healthcare, clean water, and economic opportunities. Today, Rabondo and surrounding communities are home to 7,000 residents, primarily youth, a vibrant and thriving community where families are building brighter futures, and children have access to the tools they need to succeed.

Rabondo is more than its schools, clinic, or water projects—it is a village alive with traditions, resilience, and strong community bonds. Most residents are farmers cultivating maize, vegetables, and grains, while local markets bustle with commerce, and small businesses provide goods and services that sustain daily life. Generations live side by side, with elders guiding the community and preserving its history and culture. Families support one another, sharing skills, knowledge, and resources, making Rabondo a place where collaboration and hard work create both stability and hope for the future.

A Living Thriving Community

The people of Rabondo speak Dholuo, Swahili, and English, reflecting a rich and diverse linguistic heritage. In this village, cultural practices are not only preserved but actively celebrated, fostering a sense of identity and pride. Whether through festivals, everyday work, or shared meals, culture is the heartbeat that binds families and neighbors together.
