Unlocking Opportunities Through:
Clean Water
In 2011, RCPUSA, with support from Rotary Club International, drilled the village’s first borehole on the grounds of St. Timon’s Rabondo Secondary School. This well immediately became the central water source for thousands of people in Rabondo and surrounding rural communities.
Families and students would often walk several miles to fetch water for drinking, cooking, washing, and bathing, carrying heavy containers back home. The well also supplies RCPUSA-supported institutions, including the primary school, secondary school, and medical clinic, ensuring that students, teachers, and healthcare staff have reliable access.
Water from the well is carefully tested to ensure it is potable and safe for use, eliminating the need for families to boil water, a task that once consumed hours of labor each day. Clean water supports good health, fuels growing bodies, and allows children to spend more time learning rather than hauling water. Every drop is essential to life, education, and opportunity in Rabondo..
Our Village Well:
A Lifeline for Rabondo
Our focus going forward is to develop the framework for self-sustainability to the programs we have built. In 2025, we intend to start work on the distribution phase of the water project. RCPUSA drilled a well on the grounds of St. Timon’s Rabondo Secondary School in 2011, but the water is only available at this singular point for the entire community. Our goal is to have this phase completed and have the water supplied to the primary school, secondary school, medical clinic, and establish water kiosks for community members to access clean water. The design phase of the project is complete and partial funding has been achieved. With additional funding this project should be completed in 2026.
Phase Two: Expanding Access
Your support helps sustain this critical infrastructure, protect public health, and empower families in Rabondo to thrive. Every donation ensures clean, safe water is available every day for children, students, teachers, and families.
