Anne Orieko - Class of 2010

“My name is Anne Achieng Orieko. I am 28 years old. I am a beneficiary of the generosity of donors and supporters of Rabondo Community Project USA, who supported my education and care when I was a young girl. The support that I received changed my life and I am forever grateful to the late Timon Bondo and the organization that he started for giving an opportunity for not just me, but to many other young people.

I became associated with RCPUSA when I was a student at St. Timon’s Rabondo Secondary School from 2007 to 2010. When I was there, my parents had difficulty raising school fees for my education. RCPUSA offered me educational scholarship that enabled me to continue with my education. The support included school fees, books and other learning materials. I graduated from St. Timon’s Rabondo Secondary School in 2010. After that, I joined the Ramogi Institute of Advanced Technology (RIAT) in Kisumu where I studied Social Work with a specialization in Community Development. I graduated from RIAT in 2013 and I am currently employed by an NGO here in Kenya as a Social Worker.

My job involves performing HIV-AIDS testing in the community for the Kenya Medical Research Institute (KEMRI) and the US Centers for Disease Control and Infection (CDC). I also perform Adherence counseling.

I am very grateful to RCPUSA for providing me with scholarships that enabled me to finish my secondary school education and college. Now I am able to be a productive member of society. I earn a salary and I am able to support my family. In addition, I am able to use the training that I received in college to help my community as a social worker doing HIV-AIDS testing and counseling.”
